Nobody is told that you waved. Your wave sits quietly until it is answered, so there is nothing to be embarrassed about.
Talk while it lasts
When you both wave, a private chat opens for a few minutes. Say hello properly, or let it close. Either is fine.

Everyone in your feed is physically close to you at this moment — not a profile from last week, three cities away.
Both of you, or neither
Nothing opens until you each wave. No unsolicited messages, and no inbox to wade through.
Off means off
One switch stops location updates, stops the Bluetooth beacon, and takes you out of every feed instantly.
Never for sale
